Bengali folk rock, rap highlights of Kolkata youth fest

An eclectic mix of Bengali folk music with a modern twist, Bengali rap and a dash of 'Swatantrata Rock' will enthrall youngsters at the Kolkata Youth Festival here Oct 26.

Delhi-based band 'Eka', with its brand of rock (Swatantrata Rock or music beyond genres), and West Bengal-based artistes and bands (Tanmoy Sadhak and Bolpur Bluez) will wow the audience with their innovative Western concepts of rap and hip hop applied to Bengali music.

In addition, listeners will also enjoy Baul music, the songs of the wandering minstrels of Bengal.

According to the organisers, the fest which will be held at the Eco Tourism Park here.
