A Bihar minister has alleged that a man demanded Rs 1 lakh from him on Sunday and threatened to kill him if he did not pay up, police said.
Bihar Minority Affairs and Sugarcane Development Minister Khurshid Alam lodged a complaint at a police station in West Champaran district against a man named Mohd Imtiyaz after he got two calls, said a district police officer.
West Champaran Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar said Alam informed him about the extortion call. "I have ordered local police to arrest the accused," he said.
Alam has also informed state police headquarters about the extortion demand and threat to his life, police said.
