Welcoming the victory of the grand alliance in Bihar, the CPI-M on Sunday said the state's people have ushered in their own 'acche din' by rejecting BJP'S attack on India's "social fabric and secular tradition".
"The main message of the Bihar verdict is people are not going to tolerate any attack on the country's social fabric and secular tradition," Communist Party of India-Marxist general secretary Sitaram Yechuri told media persons here.
"Since independence, our country has had a secular tradition. People did not accept the attack launched against it by the BJP.
"The Dadri incident, BJP president Amit Shah's comment that the victory of the grand alliance would be celebrated with fireworks in Pakistan were add on factors"," he said.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi had come to power with the slogan of bringing 'acche din'. But people have no faith on the BJP. So they are taking their initiative to usher in 'acche din'. The BJP's defeat in the assembly polls in Delhi and Bihar and the local body elections in Kerala is proof of the people's resolve".
Asked about the Left parties's poor show in Bihar, he said: "There was a total bipolarisation in Bihar this time. So the leftists have been squeezed out. But we have raised issues during the campaign in the interest of the working classes. No party can ignore the issues that we have highlighted."
