A BJP delegation on Friday met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh demanding immediate prosecution of Congress leader Jagdish Tytler on the basis of fresh evidence in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.

The delegation of the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sikh leaders was led by party's Secretary, R.P. Singh. They also submitted a memorandum.

In the memorandum, the BJP leaders said, "In view of the new video CD which has come out where Tytler can be seen admitting his involvement in the massacre of hundreds of Sikhs during the 1984 anti Sikh carnage (following the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi)" Tytler's role should be probed.

On Monday, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president Manjit Singh GK had released a video clip of a purported sting operation recorded in 2011, showing Tytler in conversation with a few people.

Earlier, Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari also met Singh supporting the demand of the Sikh leaders for fresh prosecution of Tytler and requested him to refer the matter to the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

"In view of this fresh evidence fresh prosecution of Tytler can ensure his conviction, which will give solace to thousands of victim families," the Sikh BJP delegation said.

On Thursday, Tytler lodged a complaint against Manjit Singh GK, accusing him of circulating "doctored" video clip showing the Congress leader.

Tytler filed the complaint with the Kapashera police station and the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police.
