Botafogo have signed Ecuadorian midfielder Pedro Larrea as they reinforce their squad ahead of next year's return to Brazil's Serie A.

The 29-year-old travelled to Rio de Janeiro on Saturday to finalise financial details of the move from LDU Loja, reports Xinhua.

Larrea was a member of Ecuador's national squad for this year's Copa America in Chile but is yet to be capped for his country.

He is the second foreign player to join Botafogo since they clinched the Serie B title last month.

The Rio outfit will begin their 2016 campaign in late January with the start of the Rio de Janeiro state championship. The national Serie A season begins in May.
