The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have seized fake Indian currency notes of Rs 1 lakh face value in West Bengal's Malda district, an official said.
Acting on a tip-off, the BSF troopers conducted searches near a fence gate of the India-Bangladesh border at Churiantpur on Tuesday afternoon and seized 50 counterfeit notes of Rs 2,000 denomination from the spot, Deputy Inspector General R.P.S. Jaswal of the BSF's South Bengal Frontier said.
"The troopers recovered the fake notes wrapped in a plastic packet from the mango orchard and handed them over to the Kaliachak police station," he added.
The BSF of the South Bengal Frontier has seized counterfeit Indian currency notes of the face value of Rs 22.98 lakh and apprehended two smugglers so far this year.
