Students in schools and colleges in Punjab now need not stand in long queues at bus stands to get their monthly bus passes made or renewed.
The Punjab transport department on Monday announced its decision to make bus passes of school and college students in their respective institutions.
"The new scheme would be operational from the commencement of the new academic session starting from April 1," Punjab Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) managing director Manjit Singh Narang said on Monday.
He said teams of PRTC officials would visit schools and colleges and issue the passes to students.
He said orders have already been given to the general managers of Patiala, Sangrur, Kapurthala, Bathinda, Budhladha, Ludhiana, Faridkot and Chandigarh divisions to implement the new scheme.
