Cricket Association of Bihar's (CAB) appeal to the Supreme Court to ask the Indian cricket board to form an ad-hoc committee to start the game in the state was transferred to a different bench here Friday.
The case was listed for hearing in the bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Mal Lodha but the bench refused to hear it due to a technical error since Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman was on the bench with the chief justice.
Justice Nariman had appeared in the past for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and now the matter has been transferred to another bench, said CAB secretary Aditya Verma in a statement.
"BCCI has announced its domestic cricket fixture for the year 2014-15, but the state of Bihar again failed to get opportunity from BCCI in the coming season. The president of Jharkhand State Cricket Association Amitabh Chaudhary is the main culprit who fraudulently changed the name of Bihar cricket association, an affiliated unit of the BCCI since 1935, to Jharkhand State Cricket Association in the year 2003. He also changed the entire area of operation of Bihar to Jharkhand," added Verma.
Bihar has been left out of competitive cricket organised by the BCCI for the last 12 years. The CAB is now fighting a legal battle against the BCCI and JSCA for full-membership for the state.
