Aiming to make Nagaland the Information Technology hub of Southeast Asia, the second edition of E-Naga Summit was launched on Monday with a call to digitise every bit of official procedures such as tendering and ticketing in the state.

Inaugurating the two-day conclave, Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya said: "Every state government should take initiatives to improve technology, create awareness on e-governance, improve various departments and create vision. Nagaland immediately needs basic important things regarding Information Technology."

"Electronic tendering system should be adopted and the state should avoid means of table tendering and any type of manipulations. Need to give salaries of employees online and Direct Beneficiary System should be adopted to directly transfer it to the bank accounts," said Acharya, who was present at the summit with several cabinet Ministers of Nagaland.

Acharya, on the occasion, also called for revenue departments to collect revenues online so that brokers could be eliminated.

"BPO should be promoted to use the English-speaking youth in a meaningful way," Acharya added.

The two-day conference is being organised by the Information Technology and Communication department of Nagaland, with an objective to bring together entrepreneurs, academia, industries and government under one roof.

The summit is envisioned to build the foundation required to identify existing gaps, incubate ideas and devise solutions specific to the needs of the state of Nagaland which ultimately will lead to progress and development of the nation as a whole.
