The CBI on Wednesday conducted searches at nine places in Delhi and NCR region including the office and residence of a top customs official.
According to Central Bureau of Investigation sources, searches were conducted in Delhi, Gurgaon and Greater Noida.
The residence and office of Inland Container Depot (ICD) Tughlakabad Commissioner of Customs Atul Dikshit were searched as it was alleged that he used his official position to benefit businessman Sahdev Gupta, thereby incurring a loss of Rs.74 crore to the exchequer.
On the same allegation, searches were also conducted at the residence and office premises of former ICD Tughlakabad customs deputy commissioner Nalin Kumar and Gupta, the sources said.
Besides loss to the exchequer, there are also allegations of cheating and criminal conspiracy against the officials, the sources added.
