The CBI on Monday registered the 16th FIR and another preliminary inquiry in connection with its ongoing probe into the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh.
The First Information Report (FIR) was registered against 20 people relating to the alleged illegalities committed in the combined assistant programmer, IT operator, data entry operator and computer operator recruitment test conducted by Vyapam in 2013.
The FIR includes the name of then controller of examinations Pankaj Trivedi, then system analyst Nitin Mohindra, then assistant programmer C.K. Mishra, then minister for technical education Laxmikant Sharma and then OSD to the minister Om Prakash Shukla.
The Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) registered the FIR under charges of cheating, criminal conspiracy, IT Act, Prevention of Corruption Act and the Madhya Pradesh Recognised Examination Act.
The preliminary inquiry was registered over the unnatural death of Lalit Kumar, a 28-year-old resident of Gwalior in Madhya Pardesh.
The alleged unnatural death occurred on January 16 in Morena in Madhya Pradesh. The deceased was an alleged accused in a case registered by police in Gwalior.
The CBI has already registered 15 FIRs and launched seven preliminary inquiries into the Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal (Vyapam) scam.
The Supreme Court had on July 9 handed over the Vyapam cases to the central agency for investigation. More than 40 people linked with the scam have died under mysterious circumstances.
