The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday pleaded before a Delhi court to cancel the bail granted to former Haryan Chief Minister O.P. Chautala's son Abhay Chautala -- an accused in a disproportionate assets case -- for going to Rio Olympics without its permission.
CBI Special Judge Sanjay Garg reserved the order for August 22.
Last week, Abhay through his counsel had sought an exemption from personal appearance on the ground that he has gone to Rio de Janeiro for the Olympics. The court then asked how could he leave the country without its permission, and sought reply from the defence and prosecution counsel.
Abhay's counsel apprised the court that being a sports administrator and ex-President of Indian Olympic Association, he has gone for the Olympics.
He also contended that no specific condition regarding seeking permission to go abroad was imposed by the court while granting him bail earlier.
CBI opposed Abhay's plea and submitted that he was no longer the President of Indian Olympic Association and there was no public interest involved in his visit to Brazil.
CBI also said irrespective of any condition imposed, Abhay had to seek the court's permission before leaving the country.
