Chinese firm Sinoma International Engineering Co Ltd is keen to invest in cement and wind energy projects in Andhra Pradesh.

On the first day of his six-day visit to China, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday met officials of the Chinese firm, which operates in equipment manufacturing and supply and engineering sector, according to a statement here.

Song Shoushan, its chairman, briefed the delegation led by Naidu about the company, which supplies equipment for 170 cement plants all over the world.

Song told the delegation that they see India as a potential market for the cement industry and that Sinoma looks at Andhra Pradesh state as a potential state for their biggest manufacturing facility in India.

Stating that they are currently studying the cement market trends in India, the group sought inputs from the delegation to understand the system of approvals and taxation structure in India.

Stating that Andhra Pradesh has the largest limestone reserve in the country, Naidu said this could boost Sinoma's chances to look at the state to set up its cement facility.

The chief minister said there would be huge construction activity in the new state capital and the region would have a large appetite for cement consumption.

Explaining about the single-desk system and country-specific desks that Andhra Pradesh ffers to foreign investors, he extended an invitation to the Sinoma group to visit the sites in the state.
