A Chinese man told police before committing suicide that he wished to donate his body organs for scientific research.

The man, identified only as Wang, sent a SMS to police in Hangzhou city in eastern China that he had decided to give his body to charity.

"When you receive my message, I will already be dead. Sorry for bothering you," Xinhua quoted his message as saying.

The man was found hanging from an outdoor air conditioning unit outside his rented house. Wang, 30, suffered from a physical ailment.

Wang's family contacted the Red Cross to make the donation but failed as he had not applied in advance.
