Citing an unclear path to making money, CNN is reportedly pulling the plug on its Snapchat news show named "The Update" just four months after its launch.
The TV-style show offered breaking news and headlines daily in the popular photo-sharing app's "Discover" feature which hosts paid publisher content, The Wall Street Journal reported late on Friday.
"Snap and CNN have built a great partnership over the years and our teams have enormous admiration for each other. We plan to keep working together and mutually decided to hit pause as we explore the best opportunities for doing that," the report quoted both the companies as saying.
CNN was one of many traditional media outlets, including Disney, NBC, MGM Television and ESPN, that launched shows for the photo-sharing app.
But despite the enthusiasm in the industry, Snapchat has struggled to add users at a satisfactory rate.
Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snap Inc which is the parent company of Snapchat, had announced redesigning the app while taking a dig at rival platforms Facebook and Twitter last month.
The company is redesigning its app to separate media and social communications, making it easier to use and understand, Spiegel had announced.
