The fair trade regulator Competition Commission of India on Monday said it is awaiting Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI) stand on net neutrality before it deliberates on it.

"It is still with the structural regulator, which is TRAI. They are yet to finalise their stance. Once it is decided, we can take a call on it," the regulator's member M.S. Sahoo told media persons here.

Talking about the raging price war between online portals and brick-and-mortar shops, Sahoo said the commission doesn't think a separate law enforcement structure or framework was needed as long as the trade was conducted ethically.

"As long as the e-tailers don't sell commodities below their cost price it is fair - there should not be any predatory pricing... There is no need of a new legislation or new framework for e-commerce at the moment," he said when asked about the regulator's stance on e-commerce portals.

Sahoo said the price war between online and offline model of sales was good for the consumer as it was helping in lowering prices.

The regulator has dealt with 600 anti-trust cases in the past seven years and has handled 475 cases of merger and acquisitions in the last four years.
