The Congress on Wednesday lauded Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra for his "principled position" in the case relating to Allahabad High Court's Justice Narayan Shukla.
"We certainly congratulate the Chief Justice of India for have taken principled position and that principled position must apply to all cases," Congress leader Kapil Sibal told reporters here to a question pertaining to indictment of Justice Shukla by an inhouse committee.
The CJI is understood to have written to President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for removing Allahabad High Court's Justice Narayan Shukla.
Chief Justice Misra's missive came after a three judge inquiry committee adversely commented on the conduct of Justice Shukla in a medical college scam.
