Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday said the country is greater than the party.
"Hamare liye dal se badhkar desh hai. (For us, country is greater than the party)," said Modi.
Speaking in Hindi, Modi said that during the Emergency, he along with other leaders sacrificed the Jana Sangh for the country, thinking "desh ka hit" (national welfare) was "supreme".
Modi also said the BJP will not tolerate any act of violence that affects the nation.
