CPI-M member A. Sampath Monday fell sick in the Lok Sabha during a protest over the conversion issue.
The 52-year-old MP from Attingal in Kerala was taken out from the house after he felt unwell while shouting slogans against the government.
When the house reconvened after a 10-minute adjournment, an opposition member demanded further adjournment as Sampath had taken ill. Deputy Speaker M. Thambidurai agreed to the demand.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu also agreed to the proposal to further adjourn the house.
Opposition parties, led by the Congress, were protesting and demanding a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the conversion issue.
As the house reconvened, Naidu informed the house that Sampath, who had been suffering from exertion, lack of rest and cough, has been taken to hospital.
