Expressing grave concern over the current political situation in West Bengal, the CPI-M on Wednesday said it will intensify its campaign to oust the Trinamool Congress government led by Mamata Banerjee.
Addressing media persons on the fourth day of the party's organisational plenum here, politburo member Prakash Karat asserted of employing flexibility in the party's tactics while chalking out its plans for the crucial 2016 assembly polls.
"The last four-and-half-year misrule has totally discredited both the Trinamool Congress and the government headed by it," said a resolution on the state's political scenario, adopted by the party on the day.
Calling for building up resistance against the "undemocratic" Trinamool and the "communal" BJP, the resolution "welcomed the determination of the Left and democratic forces to work for the defeat of the authoritarian rule of the Trinamool as also further isolating the dangerous communal forces led by the BJP".
Even as he remained non-committal on the probability of an alliance with the Congress, Karat said the party will discuss and decide its tactics in the next few weeks for ousting the "authoritarian" Mamata Banerjee regime.
"Flexibility is always there, our tactics have to be flexible to enable us to prepare for any new political situation that is arising," said Karat when asked about the speculations about a tie-up with the Congress.
"The popular mood in the state is on ousting the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress regime. Everybody knows there is an extraordinary situation in Bengal," he said remaining evasive on the alliance issue.
The party also adopted resolutions to observe the centenary year of the October Revolution in Russia after which Vladimir Lenin came to power, and on the achievements of Left-ruled Tripura.
