Day temperature drops across Punjab, Haryana

Cold wave conditions intensified in Punjab and Haryana Thursday with the maximum temperature dropping.

Moderate to dense fog affected normal life at most places in both states. Some flights were cancelled, trains were running behind schedule and road traffic was slowed down due to foggy conditions.

Maximum temperature was eight to nine degrees below normal at most places, weather officials here said.

In Punjab, Amritsar was the coldest with the maximum temperature being 8.4 degrees Celsius, 13 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature here was 2.4 degrees, two degrees below normal.

Ludhiana and Patiala cities in Punjab recorded highs of 12.4 degrees each, both eight degrees below normal.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 13 degrees, eight degrees below normal. The minimum temperature here was eight degrees.

In Haryana, Ambala city recorded a maximum temperature of 12.2 degrees, nine degrees below normal.

Karnal and Hisar recorded highs of 13 and 14 degrees respectively, eight and nine degrees below normal.
