Atletico Madrid defender Uruguayan Diego Godin, who sustained a muscle injury in his left thigh, will be out of the next three games against Malaga (Saturday) and Rayo Vallecano (April 30) in La Liga, and against Bayern Munich (Wednesday) in the first leg of the European Champions League semi-finals.
The 30-year-old Uruguyan was injured 10 minutes into the match last Wednesday against Athletic Bilbao, which Atletico won 1-0, reports Efe.
The defender underwent an MRI on Friday to assess the extent of his injury.
While the medical team could not determine how long he will be absent, this kind of injury needs rest that could take up to two weeks.
Godin has started to work out in the gym and undergo physiotherapy to recover as soon as possible so he can be ready for the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals against Bayern on May 3.
