About 1,500 delegates from over 50 countries will attend BioAsia, the annual technology and bio-business convention beginning here on Monday (February 6).
The three-day flagship event of the government of Telangana will be inaugurated by Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan in the presence of industry leaders.
According to the organisers, about 100 high profile speakers will address the event, which will see participation by 800 corporates.
Over the years, BioAsia has emerged as a pre-eminent technology and bio-business convention in Asia for life sciences, pharmaceuticals and healthcare.
At the inaugural ceremony, the Genome Valley Excellence Award will be presented to Nobel Laureate Kurt Wuthrichand and Paul Stoffels, Worldwide Chairman Pharmaceuticals and Chief Scientific Officer of Johnson & Johnson for their immense contribution in the field of life sciences and healthcare.
The international partners for the 14th Edition of the event are the state of Illinois, US and state of Selangor, Malaysia whereas the states of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh are the Indian State partners for the event.
A high profile delegation from these regions will be attending a series of meetings to explore business opportunities, collaborations in the field of research and innovation and sharing know-how to meet the requirement of affordable drugs and treatment for emerging diseases.
Vasant Narasimhan, global head of drug development and Chief Medical Officer for Novartis, Patrick Vallance, President Worldwide Pharmaceuticals, R&D - GSK, Narayana Murthy, Founder - Infosys, Kurt Wuthrich, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Scripps Research Institute, US will be key speakers.
The Indian industry will be represented by Satish Reddy, Chairman, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder and Executive Chairman, Cyient, Murtaza Khorakiwala, Managing Director, Wockardt and others.
About 100 exhibitors will showcase some of the most innovative products, services and solutions in life sciences and healthcare. The highlight at the exhibition will be the Virtual Reality experience of the upcoming Pharma City in Hyderabad with plug-and-play facilities.
