BJP MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Wednesday apologised for a 'casteist remark' he made in the Assembly House on Tuesday, after protests by members of the ruling AAP.
Delhi Assembly was adjourned twice on Wednesday afternoon, first for 30 minutes and then for 15 minutes following protests by Aam Aadmi Party lawmakers over Sirsa's remark.
After proceedings resumed after the second adjournment, Sirsa said that he was sorry for the remark and he did not intend to hurt anyone.
As soon as the house met on Wednesday, AAP's Nitin Tyagi asked Speaker Ram Niwas Goel to suspend Sisra as the latter had called dalits "Chotti Jati" on Tuesday.
The Speaker said that the word was expunged from the the proceedings of the House.
But AAP members stormed into the well of the House raising slogans "Sirsa ji ko baahar karo" and "Dalit Virodhi", urging to suspend Sirsa.
