The central government on Wednesday told the Delhi High Court that the city government has been acting in a "preconceived manner in order to prevent the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to function in accordance with law".
Justice V.P. Vaish was also informed through an affidavit filed by the union home ministry that the Delhi government was creating an unnecessary impasse in the function of the ACB.
"It is reiterated that the petitioner (Delhi government) is creating an unneccassary impasse in the function of the ACB. The Centre is committed to maintenance of law and order and to eradicate corruption from the system, however, it has to be done in accordance with law," said the affidavit.
The court was hearing an application filed of the Delhi government seeking direction against ACB chief M.K. Meena for not receiving a complaint made by a sub-divisional magistrate against some DDA officials while they were allegedly accepting a bribe.
The central government, denying the allegations of the Delhi government, said the application filed by it was "frivolous".
The court now posted the matter for September 9 along with main petition of the Delhi government challenging central government's notification on appointment of bureaucrats and the ACB's powers.
