The Ghaziabad Development Authority has cleared 31 proposals, including a 90-km rapid rail project from Delhi's Anand Vihar railway station to Meerut, an official said Thursday.
Santosh Kumar Yadav, the authority's vice chairman, said the main focus was on improving the transport system of the city and to decongest the roads from traffic.
The rapid train system from Anand Vihar to Daurala in Meerut will shorten the distance between Meerut and Delhi. It will have 15 stations, of which seven will fall under Ghaziabad. district.
Another important project that got the nod was the Delhi Metro from Dilshad Garden to the New Bus Stand in Ghaziabad.
