Delhi Police's vigilance department has received 40,477 messages on its anti-corruption WhatsApp helpline number launched along with another helpline number three months ago.
According to the vigilance department, six cases have been registered on the basis of the WhatsApp helpline complaints while six other cases are still under inquiry.
The vigilance department started two new anti-corruption helpline numbers, 1064 and 9910641064, a WhatsApp helpline, Aug 6.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Vigilance) Sindhu Pillai told IANS: "We have received a total of 40,477 messages on WhatsApp helpline. A few of them were real complaints. A total of nine policemen of the rank of constable to sub-inspector and a home guard have been booked in six cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act."
With the help of both the helplines, 23 complaints have been registered till Nov 2.
Only nine complaints have been received against traffic policemen, in which four cases has been registered.
