Twitter's much talked about upcoming new feature called Project Lightning will likely be called "Moments", when it is launched later this year.
Periscope co-founder Kayvon Beykpour in an interview with The Telegraphrevealed the name of the feature, which is designed to curate live events and news.
A Twitter spokesperson confirmed that Moments is the same as thing as Project Lightning, but said the feature's final name is "undetermined at this time".
Project Lightning is about aggregating tweets and photos from live events. In it, editors from news background would highlight the most important aspects of a story, so users can learn what is important as a real-time event unfolds.
A core aspect of Project Lightning is that users who aren't logged into Twitter will still be able to follow aspects of a live event or breaking news situation from the company's homepage.
This way, Twitter aims to engage many, many more people who consume its content without necessarily signing up for the service.
