BJP leader Vijay Jolly Monday said he presented a basket of onions to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit as Diwali gift - in view of its soaring prices.
According to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, he zeroed in on the gift after learning that Dikshit had not eaten onions for a week.
"This was a unique present to highlight the onion crisis in Delhi where it is being sold at Rs.80-100 a kg," said Jolly.
Accusing the Delhi government of not ensuring adequate supply of onions in the city, Jolly said: "The food and civil supplies department has proved to be non-existent."
Jolly said he met Dikshit at her residence.
