A huge cache of cash - Rs.22 lakh - and documents pointing to investments worth Rs.60 lakh were seized from a government employee by the state vigilance bureau on Thursday in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district.
The bureau arrested Ajay Singh, an employee of the revenue department, while he was accepting Rs.5,000 in cash from a person in lieu of property papers.
A resident of Barkagao constituency in Hazaribagh district complained to the vigilance bureau about bribes being sought by Ajay Singh. The bureau laid trap and arrested him.
"After Ajay Kumar's arrest, his house was raided ahd Rs.22 lakh in cash and documents related to investment and worth Rs 60.lakh were seized," said M.L Meena, a senior officer of the vigilance bureau, said.
The bureau is investigating other assets of the arrested employee.
