Doctors examining ailing Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar aren't saying he will recover, Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo said on Saturday.

He also said that as long as Parrikar, who is suffering from advanced pancreatic cancer is alive, there will be no leadership change in the BJP-led coalition government.

"Parrikar is very ill since last night. Doctors who are examining him aren't saying that he will recover..." Lobo said, after attending a meeting of BJP MLAs at the party's state headquarters here.

"...we are praying to God that he should recover. But there are no chances of recovery," he added.

However, Union Minister Shripad Naik and state Minister Vijay Sardesai said that while Parrikar's condition had worsened on Saturday, he was now stable.

Earlier on Sunday, the Chief Minister's Office was forced to issue a statement claiming that the health of Parrikar, who is being treated at his private residence, was "stable", after media reports said that his health conditions had worsened.

Sources, requesting anonymity told IANS that Parrikar's blood pressure had dropped considerably on Saturday morning.

Parrikar was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer in February 2018 and has been in and out of hospitals in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi and New York since then.
