American rock band Eagles' guitarist Glenn Frey, who was behind hit songs like "Hotel California" and "Tequila sunrise", will be honoured at the 58th annual Grammy Awards when the late musician's bandmates will join close friend and collaborator Jackson Browne to perform a classic hit from the Eagles' songbook.

Six-time Grammy winner Frey died following several health complications at the age of 67 last month.

Eagles members including eight-time Grammy winner and current nominee Don Henley, Grammy winner Bernie Leadon, three-time Grammy winner Timothy B. Schmit, and five-time Grammy winner Joe Walsh will be joined by Browne in a one-time-only special tribute to Frey, read a statement.

"Glenn Frey's untimely passing was a huge loss for the entire creative community," said Neil Portnow, President and CEO of The Recording Academy.

"For more than 45 years, the Eagles have played a significant role in shaping our musical landscape. We are honoured to welcome the band, along with Jackson Browne, to the Grammy stage in tribute to Glenn's tremendous legacy," Portnow added.

Hosted by LL Cool J, the annual musical gala will take place on February 15 at Staples Center here. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live in India on Vh1 channel on February 16.

Frey's wins include Record Of The Year for "Hotel California" in 1978 and, most recently, Best Pop Instrumental Performance for "I dreamed there was no war" in 2009.

"Given the impact that the Eagles have had on music, it was only right that we have a moment for Glenn, the band's co-founder," said Ken Ehrlich, executive producer of the Grammy awards.

Henley is currently nominated, with co-writer, Stan Lynch, for Best American Roots Song for "The cost of living" from his Cass County album.
