Sanaa, Dec 8 (IANS/EFE) At least eight people were injured Monday when five explosive devices went off in the centre of Yemen's capital Sanaa, witnesses told Efe news agency.
The explosions targeted two houses of Houthi Shias in the neighbourhoods of the Military Hospital and al-Sayah after dawn.
The witnesses said that the eight people were wounded when they gathered in the Military Hospital neighbourhood, where the first explosion took place.
The explosions also caused material damage to two houses, adjacent buildings and nearby vehicles.
Although no group immediately claimed responsibility for the blasts, Al Qaeda's local branch threatened in statements last month to target Houthis in cities throughout the country.
The Houthi Shias have been fighting the Al Qaeda, whose members are Sunni Muslims, in the provinces of al-Bayda and Eb since October.
