Formula One chief executive Bernie Ecclestone has insisted that he has no intention of stepping down from his position despite speculation about his future as the chief of the sport.
"I'm happy here as long as the board are happy," Ecclestone was quoted as saying by the Guardian Thursday.
"When I think I can't deliver any longer I shall retire but I'm not at that stage, not at the moment. I still enjoy what I do. The good thing is every day I get up and I never know what is going to happen. It keeps me on my toes," he said.
Ecclestone had earlier stepped down from the board of Delta Topco, which is the owner of the F1 group, to focus on the bribery case in Germany that he had to deal with this year.
He also revealed he would be back in the board and has no intention of quitting it anytime soon.
The 84-year-old, however, suggested that Sacha Woodward-Hill, a senior female executive within the organisation, would be ideally placed to take over when he steps down.
"Perhaps if I controlled the board, I would probably say it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a woman being the chief executive," Ecclestone added.
