Facebook friend threatens woman over money

A 39-year-old woman was threatened by her male Facebook friend when she refused his demands for money, police said Saturday.

Menka Verma who lives with her husband and two children in west Delhi's Dwarka lodged a complaint with police Friday that one Angad Gill of Punjab's Ludhiana, threatened to kill her family members if she did not meet his demand for money.

Verma told police she befriended Gill on the Facebook few months ago.

"Months ago, Gill shifted to Dwarka Sector-6 in a rented house and informed Verma he would start some business. A few days after, he demanded cash from Verma saying all his money was lost. Initially, she helped him but soon realised he was minting money from her," said a police officer as per the victim's statement.

"When she refused to give him money, Gill returned to Punjab but kept repeating his demand. Gill then asked Verma to give him Rs.1.5 lakh and threatened to kill her family members if she did not give him the money," said the officer.

According to the officer, a case has been registered and hunt is on for Gill.
