Swiss icon Roger Federer achieved his first victory over United States' Taylor Fritz at the Stuttgart tennis tournament here on Thursday.
The Swiss top seed defeated his opponent 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 after rains halted the match on Wednesday, reports Efe.
World No.3 Federer will face now German Florian Mayer, World No.226, in the quarter-finals.
Federer missed the French Open due to a back injury. The Stuttgart event is a tune-up for Wimbledon, where the 34-year-old has claimed seven of his 17 Major singles titles.
