The voting for the fourth and final phase of the 'gram pradhan' polls in 66 districts of Uttar Pradesh began peacefully on Wednesday.
The voting is being held in 11,718 gram panchayats to decide the fate of 97,716 candidates.
There are as many as 60 candidates enrolled per seat in this phase.
The State Election Commission (SEC), which is conducting the elections, said orders have been issued to security forces to observe zero tolerance for people involved in malpractices during the polling.
The last three phases of polling were marred with violence in which half-a-dozen people were killed and many others injured.
