Sri Lanka scored 38/1 in the first innings, trailing by 562 runs at tea on the second day of the first cricket Test against India at Galle International Stadium here on Thursday.
After India scored 600 runs in their first innings, Sri Lanka got off to a shaky start as they lost opener Dimuth Karunaratne (2) cheaply with just seven runs on the board.
Karunaratne was caught leg before wicket by pacer Umesh Yadav. Fellow opener Upul Tharanga (24) and new batsman Danushka Gunathilaka (12) were at the crease when umpires called for the tea break.
Tharanga's 14-ball knock was laced with five boundaries while Gunathilaka slammed two boundaries in his steady start.
Brief Scores:
Sri Lanka: 38/1 (Upul Tharanga 24 not out, Danushka Gunathilaka 12 not out); Umesh Yadav 1/19 against India 600/10
