Over 400 children participated in a flash mob here Friday to mark World Global Day of Action on Hunger.
Children in Connaught Place's central park amphitheatre flashed out into a mob dance.
"This flash tide is organised to raise awareness and make our voices heard to the leaders who would be meeting in London. This is very crucial for our country, which loses 16.5 lakh children due to malnutrition," Pragya Vats of Save the Children told IANS.
World Global Day of Action on Hunger was organised by Save the Children, World Vision and the members of Nine Is Mine campaign malnutrition.
"Flash dance is to create noise and attention. Flash freeze is to highlight malnutrition and flash noise is to make the world stop and see the non-availability of food," Vats added.
Speaking to IANS, Nitin Malik of the band Parikrama said: "I would have loved to see more parents here today. However, the move is in the right direction and will surely ring a bell in the entire country."
The flash tide was held a day before the crucial "Nutrition for Growth" Summit which will take place in London on Saturday. The summit is being organised by the UK and Brazilian government.
