Fluminense have sacked manager Marcelo Oliveira, less than 24 hours after the club's elimination from the Copa Sudamericana.
Assistant coach Fabio Moreno will take charge on a caretaker basis, the Brazilian club said in a statement on Thursday, reports Xinhua news agency.
Oliveira led Fluminense to 12 wins, eight draws and 13 losses after replacing Abel Braga in June.
The four-time top flight champions are currently 14th in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings with one match remaining in the season.
A defeat to Brazilian rivals Atletico Paranaense on Wednesday dashed their hopes of securing a place in next year's Copa Libertadores, South America's premier club competition.
