Thick fog enveloped the national capital again Monday. The maximum temperature was recorded at 22.3 degree Celsius, a notch above the season's average. The Met office has forecast a cloudy Tuesday.
The maximum and the minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 20 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius Tuesday, a met official said.
"The day will start with moderate fog in the morning while light rain and thunder showers are expected in the evening and night," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Visibility was reduced to 50 metres in Monday morning's dense fog.
Indian Railways said in an official statement that two trains of the Northern Railways were cancelled and 29 re-scheduled. The statement said 50 trains ran late because of dense fog and poor visibility in several parts of northern India.
"Flight operations were also affected and one flight was cancelled", a statement from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi said.
People in Delhi drove with fog lights on in the morning.
"The visibility was extremely poor and driving in fog is difficult," said Akriti Sood, who travels to Gurgaon from Delhi for work.
The minimum temperature Monday was 9 degrees Celsius, two degrees Celsius above the season's average.
Sunday's maximum temperature was 21 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average while the minimum temperature was 8 degrees Celsius, also a notch above the season's average.
