Renowned business personality and state-run Andrew Yule & Company's former head Kallol Datta died on Tuesday at a private hospital in the city, sources said.
He was 65.
He graduated from Calcutta University in engineering and did his Masters from IIT Kharagpur in Mechanical Engineering.
Datta served as the Chairman and Managing Director of Andrew Yule & Company Ltd, from 2007 to 2016 from where he retired.
He had also been a past president of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He was also Managing Director of Bharat Bhari Udyog Nigam Ltd and served as CEO of Webfil Ltd.
Datta was independent Non Executive Chairman of Tide Water Oil Co. (India) Ltd.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, son-in-law, son and daughter-in-law.
