Former IOC member Mario Vazquez Rana dies at 82

Former International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Mario Vazquez Rana from Mexico has died at the age of 82 after illness, the IOC announced Monday.

Vazquez Rana, an IOC member from 1991 to 2012, had also been the president of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) for 33 years before resigning in March 2012, reports Xinhua.

Vazquez Rana had been the president of the Mexican Olympic Committee between 1974 and 2001.
