Former legislator of the JD(U) Suryadeo Singh has been arrested over a minor girl's death when he opened fire in Bihar's Rohtas district, police said on Monday.
Taking serious note of the incident, the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] has suspended Singh from the party's primary membership, a party leader said.
According to a senior police officer, a land dispute prompted Singh and his supporters to open fire late on Sunday.
"Singh was arrested after villagers complained that it was he who opened fire which resulted in the killing of the girl and injuries to four others," the officer said.
The former legislator's wife and five others were also arrested.
