Kenyan military Saturday named four terrorists who had stormed Nairobi's upscale Westgate shopping mall last month and left over 70 people killed and about 175 wounded in the four-day siege.

Military spokesperson Major Emmanuel Chirchir told Xinhua that they have Abu Baara al-Sudani, Omar Nabhan, Khattab al-Kene and Umayr, who were captured in the CCTV footage.

"The Westage mall was attacked by the four terrorists whose names we have released to the public. Among the four, Al-Sudani is a Sudanese but we are still working on the identities of the other three and their nationalities," Chirchir said.

The military spokesperson also confirmed the authenticity of the CCTV footage broadcast by a private television station in Nairobi, showing the four men strolling through the mall as they were chatting on their mobile phones.

"Yes, I can confirm the names of the four terrorists as shown in the local TV station. Only four men took part in the attack but not ten or 15 people as its being alleged," the official said.

Cabinet Secretary in charge of Internal Security Joseph Ole Lenku last month said between 10 to 15 were involved in the mall attack.

The Al-Qaeda linked Somali militant group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, in which five militants were killed and 11 suspects arrested. The attack was in retaliation for Kenya's military involvement in Somalia, it said.
