At least four workers died and five others were injured Saturday when a building that was undergoing demolition collapsed in Lagan village in Kathmandu, police said.
The incident occurred in the morning when the workers were busy pulling down a four-storey building made of mud-brick which was in a dilapidated condition, Xinhua reported.
According to police, all the injured have been taken to Kathmandu's Bir Hospital.
"All (the) deceased and injured are daily wage earners and were in the same house," Ishwor Shrestha, a local, told Xinhua.
A joint team of the army, police and armed police have been carrying out the rescue operation.
The rescuers are digging the debris to make sure no others have been buried or trapped inside.
