Four people killed in Egypt in clashes between security forces and supporters of ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi, a media report said.

The country's health ministry said Thursday the four were killed in rallies staged in Cairo, the state-run MENA news agency reported.

Also, 13 people were injured in Cairo along with five others in Damietta, Fayyoum and Ismailia.

Morsi's loyalists staged anti-government protests nationwide Thursday to mark the first anniversary of the dispersal by security forces of two major pro-Morsi sit-ins in Rabaa al-Adawiya Square in Cairo and Nahda Square in Giza, which left at least 1,000 dead and thousands under arrest.

The police arrested dozens of protestors affiliated to the deposed president and his Muslim Brotherhood group in several provinces across Egypt, including capital Cairo, nearby Giza, Qena, Sharqiya and Alexandria, according to Xinhua.
