Ghaziabad police Tuesday claimed to have solved teenager Tapish's Oct 1 murder following the arrest of four people.
Talking to the media, Superintendent of Police (City) Shiv Hari Meena said Tapish (17) was murdered to rob him of his Indigo car.
During investigation, police found that Tapish was kidnapped Oct 1 when he was about to open the car door after buying the meal from a restaurant in Sahibabad.
Father Krishna Mitra had informed the police and apprehended that his son could have been kidnapped for ransom.
The kidnappers strangulated him with a belt and threw his body by the roadside near Shamli while taking the car to Sonipat in Haryana.
Police recovered his body from Shamli and later found the car from Sonipat.
The police official claimed that three kidnappers were arrested from Sonipat.
During interrogation, they revealed that they had taken help of a dealer, Azad Bhatti, in selling the car. They added that on their way to Sonipat, a man was crushed to death by the car.
The official added: "The kidnappers identified themselves as Rajesh Chaudhary, Afsaroon and Ranvir, all from Sonipat. The police also arrested Bhatti."
