All government hospitals in Uttar Pradesh will provide free of cost X-ray services from January 15, the state health minister Ahmad Hasan said Sunday.
The minister said the instructions have been issued to the hospitals across the state, and the earlier facility of five day free medicine to patients has been enhanced to 15 days as per need.
In the current financial year more than 2.74 crore patients were treated at government run hospitals and medical facilities, the minister said.
Very soon women patients in government hospitals would be given free and nutritious food, he added.
Saying that medical and health facilities in Uttar Pradesh still had a long way to go, he said, "We have made an earnest start and the healthcare sector is being run with the ethos and philosophies of the Samajwadi Party which calls for free medicine and treatment for the people of the state."
