Greek Theodore Theodoridis was on Friday appointed as the new secretary general of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
Theodoridis, 50, has been working since 2008 as UEFA director of national federations, and since 2010 in the position of deputy secretary general, reports Efe.
Now he is replacing Swiss Gianni Infantino, recently elected as president of FIFA.
The Executive Committee of UEFA reaffirmed its decision last January not to elect the president of UEFA until the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decides on the appeal of Frenchman Michel Platini who is currently suspended.
The Executive Committee also decided to implement the goal line technology in the Champions League starting next season.
This technology will also implemented in the finals of this year's Champions League and Europa League, which will be played in Milan and Basel, respectively.
